The adoption papers, tub, and house are moving along!

Adoption.  We are getting closer!  We received our GUZ# today and filled out DS-260.  Adoption peeps will know all about the GUZ# and for those who don't: I don't either.  All I know is it's one step closer.  Once we receive our official adoption letter with the GUZ#, our important papers will be hand delivered to the US Consulate overseas, and we should expect TRAVEL APPROVAL in about four weeks.   Praise Jesus!

Tub for the ages.  I'm sure pictures will suffice:

This is the tub as a trough.

After power washing and using a scrub attachment on a drill to clean, the chemicals were called in.

Believe it or not, this is the tub at it's cleanest, after two chemical cleans, and just before epoxy.

 Coat 1 of epoxy.

Coat 2 of epoxy.

The best thing about this tub so far (besides the fact that in a former life it was a hog trough), is that it's been totally free.  Even the epoxy was free.  We had planned on using it years ago at Our Old House to refinish the bathtub.  But we never got around to it.  So, viola!  A free tub.  And I had grand thoughts of painting the outside of the tub a paprika color, or a soft teal, or a mustard, but I'm currently liking the natural aged look. Our next step is to find some hardware.  Maybe something like this:

You know, classy and foot operable;)

And finding matching feet has proven to be difficult and would likely be pricey.  So we're strongly considering alternatives.  Like this wooden base:

The Dabney House.  I received a text from Daniel this morning saying "Call me!!!"  Our contractor had contacted Daniel because he had two sets of plans and they were different.  So Eva and I drove out to the river and met with the contractor and framer, which was comical, I'm sure.  I think/hope/pray that things are straight now.

Also, Daniel drove through snow Saturday to pick up a corner shower unit.  It was in Missouri.  We managed to find one that was about $350 cheaper up in MO including gas costs.  So Daniel left the house around 4 am to go get it so that it can be placed in the house before all the walls go up and get in the way.

He tells me it was a loud ride home.  I bet.

And just in case you were wondering, Margaret Dashwood is big and fabulous.
Happy Monday!
