Firstly, I hope everyone had a lovely Easter Sunday. I didn't find a kiddie Easter book for Eva this year. However, I had read an abridged version of
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe to Eva in the past and last week she was introduced to the movie. You guys, we watched it twice and I cried both times. What a fantastically creative way to share the reckless story of God's love for us.
a holy, pure King offering himself as a sacrifice, securing a traitor's redemption
eternally replacing an Old Law with harsh justice, impossible for us to satisfy
welcoming us to a Law of Love and a Gospel of Peace
We had a nice Easter weekend. We were in Texas visiting family for Easter and also celebrating Middle Sister's 20th Birthday. The only downfall was that Eva had a fever:( But she's better now:)
Secondly, we have house progress. Since the first day of construction, Daniel has been collecting time-lapse photos. Once the exterior is completed, we'll have a video to share. The video will be cool. Until then here's what we've got:
Here are our cinderblocks for adding onto the foundation. The house sits pretty high now-which is a good thing considering the distance to the river but will make things interesting once we add a ramp for Little Miss.
Here's our first floor framed up!
Here are the first and second floors nearly all framed up and the front porch! We have a steep roof pitch which I love. With a tone of admiration, Daniel said our house is going to look "tall and intimidating."
We had wanted to have a free-standing porch roof but we would have had to do some revisions for cantilevered supports. Since we had to have posts, we chose metal.
And I think it was a good choice for us.
Eva insists on sitting down when we're inside the house. She also insists on going up and down the stairs. And looking outside the windows. And walking around. She's really excited about The Land and The River and Building.
Our friend and soon-to-be neighbor Theresa stopped by for a chat and was kind enough to take a family picture for us inside the shell. My cheesy grin belies my ability to curb my enthusiasm. We are so excited to be building! Also, that's not our dog.
And the view one more time.
