On second thought, I decided to post again before we leave. Eva has had too many celebratory moments lately to not share.
Firstly, she has decided that she loves soft head bands. She has the finest hair and it falls out of all clips but these. The one in her pictures is made out of panty hose material which took me a bit to make peace with. Panty hose bring to mind great discomfort, sweaty toes, and The Panty Hose Shuffle due to a sagging crotch. However, it is super soft. The first day Eva wore it, it fell off just before her rocker and nap time. She started crying in her rocker. I asked her what was wrong. She said, "I want that black hat back," clearly indicating her love for the panty hose headband.
Secondly, Eva drew an E for the first time ever! We hadn't worked on drawing in quite a while. I find that often when we take a break from a task and come back weeks later, magically the skill manifests. This was magical. I was cooking. I popped in the living room to show her how to make an E on her paper and then popped back into the kitchen. Eva yelled, "It's an E!" So I ran into the living room and behold, there was an E. Eva's blue E is in the bottom right corner of the page. The most beautiful E ever. And, what's extra special about it is that the first letter I drew was also an e. With a pen. On my Gran's bedroom wall while she was cooking.
Thirdly, Eva has been taking some baby steps. Like What About Bob. Baby steps to walking. Not full weight-bearing, but amazing progress nonetheless. When we return from China, Eva's PTs are planning on introducing her to the gait trainer, which is basically a treadmill with a harness. Baby steps.
