Happy 4th of July!
We have spent this long weekend working on our Dabney House, toting the girls back and forth between naps. The good news is that we've made a lot of progress this weekend and we now have air conditioning in our Dabney House! The bad news is that we don't have air conditioning in our rental right now. We've been tempted to camp out by the river.
We are determined to do our best to cocoon and protect our girls' attachment this time around and man, it's difficult. It's very weird to not spend holidays with family. We are so thankful to be home with both our girls, but four can be a lonely number. Despite loneliness, we have much to be thankful for. I mean, we could probably do 1000 like
Ann, but for now:
We are thankful that we live in the United States.
We are thankful for those who serve and have served our country.
We are thankful for our sweet family of four.
We are thankful for our extended families whom we miss, especially on the holidays as we cocoon.
We are thankful for our topknot queens.
We are thankful for productive days when lights are hung and walls are (re)painted.
We are thankful for air conditioned Dabney House picnics.
We are thankful for sisters. I tell the girls periodically that "sister" is one of the most beautiful words we have, and I hope their love for each other grows each day.
We are thankful for smoke bombs.
And snakes of ash.
And enthusiastic gals who appreciate the little things.
